We find ourselves settling whether it’s a job, relationship or even things. We justify the reason as to why we hold on to it, why we are okay then move on with our lives. People have different reasons why they settle, more often it’s because of comfort zone, the false security, others believe that their value of existence depends on it and diminishes as soon as they let go.
In some cases settling is good because of convenience and staying grounded, while others may feel its lack of ambition or devalue their actual worth.
So why exactly do we settle?
Is it because we put so much value to it that we become contented? Are we frightened to step out of that non-existent clouds we created because of our experiences or current situation?
The truth is there been so many layers of possible reasons.
When we settle, there must be the why we settle, like in Minimalism the presence of why is integral part of the journey. The purpose is established at the beginning which makes it easier for us to dedicate and accomplish. There are numerous ways to practice minimalism i.e. frugality, pairing down etc. there aren’t any specific guides it’s whatever floats your boat. The main purpose is to find the meaning of life beyond material things and shut down noises which makes us suffer.
The reason and result should be positive (it’s not always negative) however, if it’s coming from a negative area of our lives - a result of feeling inadequacy or trauma, maybe we can dig deeper to our consciousness and find what is causing it. Peel it off, acknowledge and learn to let it go.
Whether it’s a rusty lamp you’ve been using for decades, an old habit you cannot overcome, a relationship that’s been toxic for years or just simply the way we live. As we age we tend to settle, and we regret, we keep living from our past and forgotten there is still a future ahead.
Why settle for anything LESS when WE DESERVE BETTER?
We settle because it gives us joy, there's growth, displays self-love, self-respect and nourishes our soul. The ultimate goal - We settle because it makes us Happy.
